My Summer Vacation

I was lucky enough to get a long weekend off last month. It was my first weekend off in August in many years and I went somewhere I've never been, namely, Cape Cod. As I flew into Boston I was able to get a glimpse of Boston Harbor with many skyscrapers filling the background.

The weather was perfect and so was the place I stayed, thanks to the invitation and generosity of an old boyhood friend from Allegany.

A couple of old classmates joined us for some golf and conversation and the weekend could not have been better. I think I actually relaxed.

The beach is about a 30 second "sandy walk" from the beach house and you can smell the salty air from the first step.

Where there isn't beach there is sprawling marshland that is just as beautiful and home to many types of birds and wildlife.

Besides the great company, the best part of the trip was the golf. We played at the Woods Hole Golf Club that has a heritage dating back to the 19th Century. I could try to explain the beauty of the 17th Hole but the image below will do a much better job.
